Welcome!

I am a final-year Social-Personality Psychology PhD candidate at the University of Texas at Austin. Under the advisement of Dr. Bertram Gawronski, I use a social-cognitive approach to uncover the mechanisms underlying people’s judgments of what is right and true. My research uses computational modeling approaches and involves conducting lab and online studies with observational and experimental methods.

As a proponent of open science practices, my published projects’ data, codes, and materials are available on my OSF page, and my preprints are available on my ResearchGate page. You can also find my published works’ DOIs and OSF project links on the Research page of this website. If you have any questions about my research, feel free to reach out to me at nyx@utexas.edu.

  • I hail from Singapore and received my academic training across three continents: Southeast Asia (Singapore), Europe (United Kingdom & Sweden), and North America (United States).

Outside of my research, I spend most of my time fawning over my pets, snapping photos, visiting museums, and traveling.

  • My first name is pronounced ‘nix’/‘nicks’ and my last name ‘uhng’. If you are still struggling with the latter, my last name is a dialectal variation of the common family name Hwang/Huang (黄), so you can address me by that too.
